About Wall Chess

Wall Chess is an online strategy board game built around two simple ideas: move your pawn toward the far side of the board, and place walls to block and reroute your opponent. It is easy to learn and offers deep positional play.

How it plays

Each player controls one pawn on a 9×9 grid. On your turn you either move one step (with jump rules when players meet) or spend a wall from your limited supply. Walls sit on the edges between cells and change which paths are legal. You cannot trap either side from eventually reaching their goal. The first player to reach the opposite row wins.

Why we built it

We want a fast, polished browser experience for a classic style of abstract strategy — quick to start, satisfying to improve at, and focused on fair head-to-head play. We iterate on stability, clarity, and fairness as the service grows.

Trust

Multiplayer is central to Wall Chess. Game logic is enforced on the server where it matters for online play, and we care about respectful usernames and fair outcomes (resign, timeout, and disconnect handling are defined in our Terms of Service).
